Oliver Brown

Oliver Leon Brown was a WWII veteran and the namesake plaintiff in the 1954 Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court Decision that struck down segregated education. He was studying to become a minister when he agreed to be added to the suit on behalf of his eldest daughter, Linda. Before his untimely death on June 20, 1961, he had served two African Methodist Episcopal churches, in Springfield, MO, and his native Topeka, KS.
