Joan of Arc
šļø May 30th
Joanās family name was dāArc, but they were all from Domremy in the Lorraine region of France. She began hearing voices at 13 telling her she was to restore Charles VII to the throne. Known as La Pucelle (a French word that derives from the Latin pullus, for a chick or foal), Joan could not read and had no military training, but her intervention at Orleans and several follow-on battles effectively ended the 100 Years War between France and England.
