Phil Berrigan

Phil Berrigan was drafted into service for WWI, first as an enlisted artilleryman and eventually as a commissioned officer. His experience of the racism of boot camp and the use of atomic weapons affected him dramatically and he dedicated the rest of his life to nuclear disarmament and anti-poverty activism. He died of cancer on December 6, 2002, at Jonah House in Baltimore, MD.
