Psalm 116

1 I love the Lord, because he will hear the voice of my supplication. 2 Because he has inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call upon him in my days. 3 The arms of death held me; the dangers of hell found me: I fell into affliction and sorrow. 4 Then I called on the name of the Lord; “YHWH, deliver my soul!” 5 The Lord is merciful and Just, it’s true; our God(s) show compassion. 6 The Lord protects the simple: I was brought low, and he delivered me. 7 Return to your rest, O my soul; for the Lord has dealt you a full bounty. 8 For they have kept my soul from destruction, my eyes from tears, and my feet from falling. 9 I walk beside the Lord in the abundant land.

10 I believed my own words when I cried out in affliction. 11 It made me think that human nature is to lie. 12 What can I give to YHWH other than what I’ve already been given? 13 I will take the Salvation cup, and call upon the name of the Lord. 14 I will pay my vows to the Lord, in the presence of all his people. 15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. 16 O Lord, I am your servant; I am your servant, and my mother’s son: you crumpled the handcuffs placed on me. 17 I will offer to you the sacrifice of praise by calling upon YHWH. 18 I will pay my vow to the Lord in the presence of all The People , 19 in the courts of the Lord’s house, in the midst of you, O Jerusalem.
