Peter Maurin

đź—“ 15 May

Pierre “Peter” Maurin served obligatory military service in France during 1898-1899. He was also called up periodically for reserves for another two weeks after his initial two years of service. He found this military service to be in conflict with his religious and pacifist principles, which eventually contributed to his decision to emigrate to Canada in 1909 to avoid further conscription
