Emil Kapaun

CPT Emil Kapaun was a chaplain in the US Army who served in WWII before returning for service in Korea, where he was captured and spent six months as a POW. He died on May 23, 1951, two months after celebrating mass for the Easter Vigil. In 2013 he was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor 20 years after the process to make him a Roman Catholic saint was initiated by Pope John Paul II.
